Amazon supports 13 affinity groups, also known as employee resource groups, which bring employees together across businesses and locations worldwide. These groups foster inclusion by creating spaces for shared heritage and cultural exchange. This year, in honour of Diwali, the Asians at Amazon group has led the way in organizing festivities across our Amazon operations sites and corporate offices, allowing employees from all backgrounds to come together to celebrate the festival’s values of light, knowledge, and hope.
Bringing Diwali to Amazon Workspaces
Across Amazon’s operational sites, employees have immersed themselves in the joy of Diwali with festive décor, traditional attire, and engaging activities. Vibrant floral decorations, intricate Rangoli patterns enhanced with LED lights, and colourful displays have transformed key site areas, creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Employees have enjoyed a variety of festive snacks, from gulab jamun to samosas, distributed throughout the week to ensure everyone has a taste of Diwali’s sweetness.
To encourage cultural expression, employees wore traditional attire, adding a touch of authenticity to the celebrations. The spirit of Diwali was further brought to life through dance and art, with some sites hosting dance performances, while others engaged associates with art contests, including Rangoli and colouring activities that added vibrant personal touches to the spaces.
Corporate Events in Vancouver and Toronto
In addition to site celebrations, the Asians at Amazon group hosted Diwali gatherings at our corporate offices in Vancouver and Toronto, with activities tailored to highlight the richness of Diwali traditions. Employees and guests enjoyed an evening of music, live cultural performances, and festive food, creating opportunities to connect, share, and honour this cherished celebration with their colleagues.
