“ALEXA, THANK YOU” AMAZON CANADA REVEALS THE MOST ASKED QUESTIONS OF ALEXA IN 2024

Alexa is always ready to help and has once again been on hand to answer the millions of questions posed by inquisitive customers in Canada. Revealed today are this year’s ‘Alexa’s Most Asked Questions’ covering an array of the hottest trends and topics in 2024.

• Insights show that Canadians live up to their polite reputation, inferred from the ways customers are greeting Alexa. For example, “Alexa, thank you” was ranked number one out of the top 10 Alexa interactions, with “Alexa, hello,” and “Alexa, good morning” and finally “Alexa, I love you” and “Alexa, how are you” coming in as some of the other top greetings.
  
• It’s safe to say that Canadian customers are Swifties, as Taylor Swift is making a habit of scoring the number one spot as the most played artist via Alexa and Amazon Music with The Tortured Poets Department also topping as the most played album. On that note, Country music is the most requested genre of music in Canada, with A Bar Song (Tipsy), by Shaboozey taking the top spot in most played songs, with Shake It Off by Taylor Swift coming in second and TEXAS HOLD 'EM, Beyoncé, rounding out the top three.
  
• Away from the charts, sport-related requests are where Alexa scores big as gameday is popular amongst Canadians, with questions about The National Hockey League’s Edmonton Oilers (recent Stanley Cup playoff finalists), the Toronto Maple Leafs, and Major League Baseball’s Toronto Blue Jays topping requests. Customers are asking: “Alexa, when do the Oilers play” and “Alexa, what’s the score of the Toronto Maple Leafs game?” plus “Alexa, when do the Blue Jays play next?”
  
• Keeping customers entertained, Alexa was on hand to provide some fun, including through experiences like “Alexa, sing me a song” and “Alexa, flip a coin.” Customers also had some fun chats with Alexa, saying phrases like “Alexa, compliment me.”
  
• Users also turned to Alexa for insights on general knowledge, with “Alexa, what is the population of earth?”, “Alexa, how long do you cook an egg for” and “Alexa, what is the value of Bitcoin?” coming in as some of the most asked questions.
  
• In the kitchen, Alexa is still helping customers to cook up a storm, with the AI sous chef helping with recipes and cooking inspiration, with garlic roasted chicken breast, banana bread, and guacamole coming up as some of the most asked for recipes for 2024. Cajun parmesean shrimp pasta, vegan salsa verde chickpea bowls, and Dutch baby pancakes also made the list, as customers tried new things.

“Canadians are interacting with Alexa each month to learn, be entertained and get help with tasks,” said Allison Siperco, Alexa Canada Country Manager. “From starting their day by greeting Alexa hello, to asking Alexa to help inspire them to discover new recipes, or requesting their favourite artist or genre of music, to something important to Canadians across the country – inquiring about the score of the hockey or baseball games – Alexa’s ‘most asked’ is proof that Canadians are turning to Alexa as an integral part of their daily lives.”
