The holiday season is Amazon’s busiest time of the year—a true “Power Play” when employees come together to deliver smiles for customers. This year, to make the season even brighter, we celebrated Prime Monday Night Hockey by inviting Connor Zary, Dustin Wolf, Ryan Nugent-Kopkins, Danton Heinen, Arshdeep Bains and Morgan Reilly to visit their local Amazon fulfilment centres to help pack customer orders, meet employees and make impactful donations to deserving local causes.
Here’s a recap of the events:
Calgary: Flames Players Give a Holiday Assist
On November 22, Calgary Flames players Connor Zary and Dustin Wolf visited Amazon’s 2.8 million square foot YYC4 fulfilment centre in Southeast Calgary. Alongside beloved mascot Harvey the Hound, they packed and shipped orders, showcasing their teamwork beyond the rink.
The highlight? A $10,000 donation to Food Banks Alberta to support families in need during the holidays.
Edmonton: Celebrating a Milestone with Ryan Nugent-Hopkins
On December 9, Edmonton Oilers star Ryan Nugent-Hopkins brought holiday cheer to employees at Amazon’s YEG1 fulfilment centre in Nisku. Ryan got hands-on, packing customer orders during the busy peak season. He also helped Amazon present two significant donations: $5,000 to Food Banks Alberta and $5,000 to the Leduc & District Food Bank, celebrating its 40th anniversary.
Vancouver: Canucks Players Support the Greater Vancouver Food Bank
On December 11, Vancouver Canucks’ Danton Heinen and Arshdeep Bains, alongside mascot FIN, surprised employees at Amazon’s YXX2 fulfilment centre in Richmond. Employees cheered as the players participated in a lively Q&A, revealing their pre-game rituals (salmon and pasta for Danton!) and reflecting on the joy of playing in front of hometown crowds.
The visit wasn’t just about fun—it was about giving back. Danton and Arshdeep presented a $10,000 cheque to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank, continuing Amazon’s long-standing support of the organization. They then rolled up their sleeves to pack customer orders, gaining firsthand experience with Amazon’s cutting-edge robotics technology.
Toronto: Launching a Lifeline with Morgan Rielly
Toronto Maple Leafs’ defenceman Morgan Rielly joined Amazon employees at YYZ7 in Caledon on December 16 to celebrate the launch of Caledon Community Services’ first Mobile Food Pantry. The initiative, supported by a $55,000 donation from Amazon Canada, will bring essential supplies directly to residents in remote areas of the town.
Morgan joined Mayor Annette Groves and Ontario Deputy Premier and Minister of Health Sylvia Jones in marking the occasion, highlighting the importance of innovation and community connection during the holidays.
From all of us at Amazon, happy holidays!
