Community support is more than just a commitment—it’s a responsibility. In August, employees at our fulfilment centre in Edmonton, Alberta – YEG1, mobilized to support victims of the devastating wildfires in Jasper. When the Leduc & District Food Bank (LDFB) identified an urgent need for assistance in the wake of the fires, our YEG1 team quickly initiated a donation drive to collect essential items, including food, non-food essentials, and personal hygiene products. Collection containers were set up at the fulfilment centre, making it easy for employees and the local community to contribute.

Rapid Response Through Local Collaboration

To ensure that donations reached those in need as quickly as possible, Amazon partnered with LDFB, which responded swiftly to our outreach. This collaboration enabled the efficient transportation of collected items directly to Jasper, ensuring that the wildfire victims received timely relief.

Ongoing Commitment to Community Support

The Leduc & District Food Bank, serving the community since 1984, relies heavily on donations and volunteer efforts to assist approximately 85,000 people in the region. Recognizing the importance of this work, Amazon will continue to support the LDFB in the coming weeks, with plans for our employees to volunteer their time to help those impacted by the fires.

At Amazon, we are committed to supporting our local communities, especially in times of need. The initiative led by our YEG1 fulfilment centre is a testament to our dedication to making a positive impacting the communities where our employees live and work. We are proud to stand with our community and remain committed to helping those who need it most.
